Francesco Diaz
German dj/producer Francesco Diaz is one of the top candidates for house music's „Most Improved Player 2007". After 15 years in the biz, he found himself surfing on a fantastic wave of success with releases like „Human Animal" and „Don't You Want Me" and his remix for Dahlback's „Everywhere". If you try to define the club sound of tomorrow you can't do without Francesco Diaz. Inspired by Ibiza house, he seasons his productions with a pinch of electro and rounds it off with well-measured oldschool rave quotes to create his unique version of advanced modern house sound with an extra portion of groove.
When Francesco Diaz took over the European management of George Morel in 1998 and, in the new millennium, earned great merits as manager of several house labels and mastermind of house compilations such as LUXURY HOUSE, IBIZA HOUSE SESSION and EXCITING HOUSE no one could predict how high he could soar. Already established as house gourmet, he released FRANCESCO DIAZ FEAT. KARL FRIERSON „SAY A LITTLE PRAYER" in 2001, a production which later was re-released on Muschitunes in 2005 with great acclaim. 2004 witnessed his first coop with Young Rebels and blessed us with FRANCESCO DIAZ PRESENTS YOUNG REBELS „TIME 2 TURN AROUND". The single caused considerable buzz and opened new doors when re-released in 2005 as DENNIS THE MENACE & JERRY ROPERO VS. FRANCESCO DIAZ. Roger Sanchez, Pete Tong and Judge Jules are among his supporters ever since. After 4 weeks on top of Scandinavian Dance Charts, he quite impressed Axwell and Steve Agnello at Joia Records, a connection which is most fruitful until today.
In 2006 he founded MUSICA DIAZ with its labels TORO and SENORITA as his personal release plaform. While SENORITA relies on euphorising vocals and jazzy samples to create soulful house, TORO offers advanced modern house as progressive peak-time sound. Releases such as FRANCESCO DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS „IBIZA" and FRANCESCO DIAZ FEAT. BONNY FERRER "LIFE IS TOO SHORT" were the next cornerstones on his way to the top. Since 2006 he is also more sought-after than ever as a DJ and is celebrated all over Europe, with gigs in Moskow, Kiev, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Stockholm, Germany, Norway, Austria Poland and, obviously, on the eternal party island no. 1, Ibiza.
However, it took him yet another year for his decisive international breakthrough. In 2007, FRANCESCO DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS „HUMAN ANIMAL" had more than 5,000 downloads at beatport, was chosen as commercial soundtrack for German fashion label Wormland (respected for its club affinity) and currently powers the campaign of brand-new dj tool PACEMAKER. The following release GOLD, DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS „DON'T YOU WANT ME" resulted in 9,000 downloads and #2 position at beatport. It climbed to # 1 of the Benelux Dance Charts and was exclusively licensed in 9 countries (among them Ministry of Sound Germany/Australia and blanco y negro/Spanien). The DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS REMIX of JOHN DAHLBÄCK „EVERYWHERE" was chosen „hottest track" in Pete Tong's Miami WMC Show.
After all these manifold accomplishments, Francesco Diaz was nominated headliner of this year's „LICOR 43 TOUR", which will take him to 12 of Germany's biggest house clubs between march and october 2008. With „Wormland #1" he also masterminded the first edition of a new compilation series, with following editions to be released twice a year under his name.
For 2008, things look bright and promising. With GOLD, DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS „OPEN SESAME" (remixes by Tom Novy and Eddie Thoneick) and FRANCESCO DIAZ & YOUNG REBELS „DESTINATION SUNSHINE" (Pickadoll Records) the next massive hits are on their way. Upcoming coops with EDDIE THONEICK and COZY (singer of David Guetta), and remixes for ANNA GRACE „SO REAL" (singer of Ian Van Dahl), EDDIE THONEICK „FREAK" and JOHN DAHLBACK „I HAD A FEELING" give every reason for high anticipation.
